Job Description

Group Management Services is looking for a detail oriented with strong communication skills as our new Junior Underwriter.

What are some expectations for this role?

  • Serve as a go-between for insurance companies providing coverage and the insurance sales team selling policies
  • Work alongside underwriters performing research and analysis to determine the eligibility of clients and risk for insurance products and services
  • Act as a trainer for underwriting reps within Salesforce to new sales reps and account managers as needed
  • Work with and act as a liaison between sales, the underwriting process and Salesforce
  • Assist with the preparation and submissions of WC quotes
  • Assist in deciding whether to offer insurance along with determining coverage and premiums
  • Review accident and claims history, property value, and other factors to assess risk
  • Estimate loss potential from catastrophes, accounting for severity and frequency of potential losses
  • Recommends and implements changes to the underwriting policies and procedures
  • Assist in client issuance of workers' compensation certificates and workers' compensation state postings
  • Assist in WC code additions, terms, and changes with the carrier and within Salesforce
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications for this role?

  • Education - Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience - 1-2 years related experienced preferred or equivalent combination of education; Experience in training is a plus
  • Software - Proficient in Microsoft; Experience in Salesforce preferred
