Job Description

Come gain diverse ecological field experience working on a variety of research projects! 

Duties include conducting vegetation and tree disease surveys, collecting environmental data with sensor networks, lab sample processing, and data entry. Positions are based in the Twin Cities with travel to research sites including Mississippi River floodplains, savannas at Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve, and SPRUCE climate change experiment in north-central MN.

We are hiring full-time but can accommodate part-time staff. Compensation is $16-$18/hour depending on prior experience. 

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced undergraduate standing in Forestry, Ecology, Wildlife or related major or equivalent experience;
  • Ability to work in challenging field conditions (hiking in brushy wetlands; ticks, mosquitoes and biting flies galore = positive attitude critical)
  • Ability to precisely follow a protocol and collect high-quality data
  • Experience working with diverse teams
  • Experience identifying vegetation strongly preferred
  • Experience with Excel and R strongly preferred
  • Willingness to travel for field work including overnight travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fieldwork or other outdoor work
