Role Overview:
The primary responsibility of an INDOT District Environmental Manager is to aid delivery of INDOT's Capital Program by ensuring that federally funded transportation projects are following the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The position manages the environmental aspects of the NEPA process by preparing Categorical Exclusion (CE) level documents for district projects and reviewing CE documents prepared by consultants. The NEPA preparation and review process ensures compliance with laws and regulations that address various areas of the natural, social, and historical environment. Documents for compliance with the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) will also be prepared for non-federally funded projects. NEPA and SEPA tasks may include field investigations to document existing conditions, determine impacts to the environment, and to prepare Waters of the U.S. Reports; preparation of Red Flag Investigations; conducting inspections for bats and birds; and coordinating with agencies and officials. The Environmental Manager works integrally with project team members to satisfy the needs and schedules of each project and coordinates with several internal and external customers in various environmental capacities.
Salary :
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $53,222.00. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

This position is located in INDOT’s Greenfield District, Capital Program Management Department.
